Thread: Board Game Art and Graphic Design:: Artist Needed - Personal Project, Possible Card Design

Hi,

So, I thought I'd give this a shot since I've been looking through threads and have seen such wonderful art.

This is a project I'd like to keep close to the vest, just because of the more personal nature. But please trust me when I say that I don't play the nickel and dime game, have the utmost respect for the talent that you have and I hope that we're both satisfied with the final project. Please Message me if interested and I may be willing to give more information. Sorry for the vagueness, I'm afraid that by telling more, my idea might be taken and, therefore, not quite as unique when seen.

Here are the details I can give, based on the pinned thread:

1. Name/theme/description of project:

This will be artwork for a card-based project, though describing more would kind of get into the secretive part. But it, at minimum, would be full body artwork where I will design the card and, at maximum, you'd help with the design of the full card, front and back.

2. Collaboration or Compensation:

I think I mentioned this above, and may overlap some with these questions. The collaboration can be as little as just the full body artwork or as much as the card design on both sides. I have an idea of what I'd like, but I'd love to collaborate with you if you decided to go all-in with it.

3. Budget:

Not sure if this is going to be helpful, but I have done commissions through here are some of my favorite commissions for an original character concept I had:

https://phil-cho.deviantart.com/art/Flashpoint-OC-Commission...
https://phil-cho.deviantart.com/art/Flashpoint-commission-55...

So I'm used to commissions to some extent. Budget is vague because of the personal nature of this project. For now, if you're interested, please quote the minimum (per full body) and maximum (full card design, both sides) with the implied understanding from me that these are ballpark figures until you get the details of the project.

4. What are the terms:

Vague as well, but this is my intention:
- Full payment with no residual income. I've seen 1/2 up front and 1/2 at the end as a common form of payment and I would do the same.
- I will have full rights to and own the final artwork.
- If we decide to go with the maximum, you would keep the design concept for the layout. If I see cards that look similar, I wouldn't have any problem with it. I'm willing to put that in writing.
- I would have you credited for the artwork, either by a signature or by a note on the card. It will be shared with as many publishers, designers and reviewers as I can get in contact with and I would want to make sure you get full credit for the artwork.

5. Number of pieces:

For now, as I mentioned, please quote the minimum and maximum for reference. If you have a per-piece price as well, please note that.

6. Size of art:

Negotiable, but minimum 300dpi at a US Deck-sized card, 56 x 87mm, with bleed.

7. Art style desired:

Lighter, somewhat cartoony, but detailed. The Phil Cho commission on a white background I noted would be a good indication for the full body art. Another indicator is the character style in the RPG MASKS: http://www.magpiegames.com/masks/

These are superhero-looking characters, which is my favorite genre, but the artwork would just be normal people, maybe in an action pose.

8. Deadline:

It's April 23rd right now. I would like to have the final artwork by May 20th at latest. That seems, to me, to be a reasonable turnaround. But, like I said, message me and if your portfolio fits my vision, I'll give you more detail.

Again, sorry for the vagueness. I think this would be a really cool project and I hope that this has piqued your interest enough to message me about rates and more details.

Thanks!

Jeff
