Thread: Board Game Art and Graphic Design:: Opinions on the design direction for a lightly themed abstract on BGA

I recently designed the abstract game Las Médulas. The rules are finalized and it's playable in a browser on MindSports.nl already. It's also on Tabletop Simulator, AirBoardGame, and AiAi. Now I'm considering putting it on BGA, but for that I'll need some actual art and design.

It's a complete information abstract strategy game, so I want to add just a touch of the mining theme. I really only need 6 pieces of design:
Board
Tiles
Miners
Logo
Cover art
Rules

I've taken a stab at it myself, and I'm curious what you all think about it in general. Am I going in the right direction, or should I rethink it?

Here's the cover art, with a mock-up in the BGA list of abstract games. I will need to improve this, but I wonder if it is worth improving or if you think I should go in a different direction

The game, showing board, miners, and tiles:

The rules, with the logo in the upper left:

You can see the whole shebang over at airboardgame.net - it's in the games list on the main page with the design package I'm considering for BGA.

One additional thing I was considering is a wood texture for the tiles, but I really like a flat color more. There is already enough visual noise in the board background, and I feel that the flat color conveys a feeling of carving paths through the rock. However, I generally play with wood tiles when I use my own physical set, so here's an example with wood tiles:

Any feedback appreciated, including "It's all terrible, throw it out and hire someone."
