Hi, all -
I have some professional development funding at the college I teach at that I need to decide on in the next week. I am wondering if it's worth investing in some training/coursework on graphic design - either a course on principles of graphic design or something that will help me learn helpful software (I have the Adobe Creative Cloud on my work computer, so I have Photoshop, InDesign, etc., but I don't know how to use any of it, except a tiny bit of Photoshop). I'm just never going to be an artist, but I think I getting some foundational skills in graphic design would be valuable for prototyping.
Does anyone have suggestion for good online courses that they've taken, or other ways that they have improved their skills in ways that have made them better or more efficient game designers? It doesn't have to be graphic design-related either, so all thoughts are welcome!
I should mention that I'm also teaching myself Twine so I can explore doing a little interactive fiction. But I think I can pretty much learn it by myself via YouTube videos and a good book by Melissa Ford that I have. And I'm guessing that rather than taking a creative writing course, I should just write and write and write. But I'm open to suggestions here as well.
Thanks!
